The people of Wine Art Estate share an enduring passion for the production of quality wines. A passion, that has found its ultimate expression in the development of the Estate’s vineyards and winery at Mikrochori, Drama. A passion for perfection that has led to the production of much appreciated wines.
Techni Alipias White, P.G.I. Drama. The combination of Sauvignon Blanc and Assyrtiko produces a fruity and splendidly aromatic wine, of a clear pale yellow colour with greenish reflections.
Idisma Drios Chardonnay, White, P.G.I. Drama. After the skin contact maceration, the wine is vinified in new French oak barrels and matures for about 5 months with its fine lees for maximum body and aromatic complexity. This wine is a rich golden yellow colour. The distinctively fragrant aroma of tropical fruits has underlying hints of vanilla and honey. In the mouth the wine is rich, full bodied, beautifully balanced, with a pleasant freshness.
"Τechni" Malagousia, White, Protected Geographical Indication Macedonia. The colour is yellow pale with greenish reflections. The nose is marked by explosive aromas of citrus fruits, white flowers and bergamot orange. A full bodied wine with refreshing acidity and a long aftertaste.
Nebbio, P.G.I. Drama. This premium varietal wine is produced from 100% Nebbiolo grapes. After being vinified by the classic red vinification method, the wine ages for 4-5 years in oak barrels. This long barrel maturation, balances the varietal’s high tannic potential and enhances the complexity of the wine. Typical Nebbiolo light red colour, with the characteristic brick-orange hue at the rim of the glass. Complex bouquet of plums, black olives, cedar and sun-dried tomatoes. Robust and full-bodied in the mouth, with vigorous tannins and a structural elegance.
The winery
The elegant modern winery of Wine Art Estate is located on the outskirts of the village of Mikrochori. The functional, spacious production area was designed specifically for the new building. It houses the state-of-the-art equipment for the production of quality wines: heat exchangers to chill the destemmed grapes, pneumatic press, special vats for skin contact maceration of white and red grapes, stainless steel fermentation tanks with automated temperature control systems, cold room for white wine fermentation and ageing in oak barrels, oak fermentation vats for the vinification of certain red wines, and stabilisation tanks.
A computerised central control system constantly monitors the entire production process (fermentation and maturation temperatures, pumping, etc.), intervening automatically and generating a record of each fermentation tank.
All of the Estate’s red wines and some of the whites are then transferred to the underground cellars for the next stage of their development. Here, in stable temperature and humidity conditions, maintained by a climate control system, in hundreds of French oak barrels, the wines age before being bottled.
The vineyards
The Wine Art Estate vineyards at Mikrochori overlook Mount Pangaion, in antiquity home of the cult of Dionysus and the Orphic mysteries.
The French grape varieties Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, the Italian varieties Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, the Portuguese variety Touriga Nacional and the indigenous varieties Assyrtiko, Agiorgitiko, Lemiona are carefully tended, to ensure top quality fruit.
Wine Art Estate has currently 16 hectares of vineyards. Another 10 hectares are being planted since the beginning of 2009, at K.Vrisi, a location known since ancient times for the cultivation of the vine and the production of wines, as indicated by the ruins of a Sanctuary of Dionysus.
